Megan Levings, PhD

Dr. Megan Levings is a Professor in the Department of Surgery and School of Biomedical Engineering at the University of British Columbia and head of the Childhood Diseases Research Theme at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Her research focuses on using T regulatory cells, a special kind of white blood cell, to replace conventional immunosuppression in the context of transplantation and autoimmunity. Dr. Levings is internationally recognized in the field of human immunology and has made significant contributions to the development and use of chimeric antigen receptor-expression Tregs. She has won numerous awards, including the Canadian Society for Immunology Investigator Award and the YWCA Woman of Distinction, Science, Research & Technology. She also holds a Canada Research Chair in Engineered Immune Tolerance. Dr. Levings is an author of 149 peer-reviewed articles and an inventor on 4 patent families.
