Sam Chen, PhD

Co-Founder & Director, Formulation Development

Dr. Sam Chen has over 10 years of experience in research and development of nanoparticle formulations. He obtained his BSc from the University of British Columbia, majoring in Biochemistry. Subsequently, he pursued his PhD training in drug delivery under the supervision of Prof. Pieter Cullis, pioneer in lipid-based drug delivery systems. Dr. Chen has deep understanding of various synthetic/natural lipids and their role/interactions in membrane systems, knowledge he employs to engineer potent nanoparticles for lipophilic prodrugs. He has authored 20 publications and 2 book chapters. He currently leads the formulation R&D efforts and is an inventor of two key technologies in the company.
